The Spanish children are three and four years old so they received extra support.
1.- First of all a presentation was done with all the previous illustrations of the story and with the translation to Spanish. It was seen several times to make it well known to the children. They met the main characters, Jason, the dog, and the girl called Helene. The last time the children were able to narrate the story by themselves.
2.- At the same time another story of a Spanish dog was told to the children. The dog liked the beach a lot.
3.- When it was our turn, the children realized that the main characters were travelling from one country to another.
4.- And what will be the next country? They agreed, Spain!, of course.
And who could they meet with? The best option would be another dog. So we need to have the drawing of Yoyó. We had a look to the book and use the programme PAINT to draw the dog. A digital image would allow us to use brilliant colours and it was easy to draw Yoyó.

5.- Where can they go with Yoyó?… As Yoyó likes the beach a lot… he shows the beach of Gijón to Helene and Jason … How can we draw the beach of Gijón? It is very difficult so it will be better to take a photo and cut it. Then we paste Jason, Helene and Yoyó on it.

6.- ¿And what happen?…. They did not know… We asked another question
¿What can they find? Something magic… a ring. As we have got several photos of the beach, we chose one with a branch of a tree and draw a ring on it.

7.- ¿What kind of magic power can the ring have ?… They had no idea but some days ago they had seen a rainbow and were very impressed. So this ring could have inside a lot of rainbows. The children drew a rainbow with a special paint that expansions.

8.- As part of the process, we received a parcel from France and Jason was inside. There were a hen, drawings of the French children and a lot of small chocolate eggs. Besides, a letter from France told us that they had made a collar and a lead for Jason. They even managed to write us in Spanish.

¿What are we going to give to Jason? As Yoyó had a bag and a towel for the beach and liked them a lot. The children decided to make a towel and a bag just like them for Jason.
We used a material that allows children to cut and sew without problems. Then we took a photo of Jason with the presents.

We think that Jason is very happy!

We have used the story to learn reading and writing skills.
